Who is Walter Smith?
- Mr. Smith has been in
the air pollution field for 41 years.
- He is recognized by
his peers as a Fellow of AWMA and the First inductee of the Source
Evaluation Society's Stack Sampling Hall of Fame.
- He is in the World
Who's Who 1994, 1995, 1996, and Who's Who (various) 1977, 1980-1984.
- He is a Professional
Engineer in North Carolina and New Jersey.
- He is a Diplomat of
the Academy of Environmental Engineering.
- Mr. Smith was largely
responsible for the development of both the testing methodology and
equipment that subsequently became EPA Methods 1 through 8.
- Mr. Smith was also
one of the principal authors of Methods 1-8 and was active in EPA
efforts to win their final approval.
- Mr. Smith developed and
directed the source sampling courses for the Air Pollution Training
Institute (including the 450 course).
- He worked for EPA for
11 years.
- Mr. Smith was the
co-founder and President (for 20 years) of Entropy, Inc., the largest
source sampling company in the country.
- He co-authored the F
factors papers and was instrumental in their development.
